I was just downstairs getting ready for Hibernation Day tomorrow and I was thinking about a "print rich" environment.  I have to say when I am down there it truly makes me happy.  With all the cute posters on the wall ANNOUNCING our different themes of the month, it puts a smile on my face.  I hope the children feel the same!!  I will post some pictures this weekend so you can all have a look and maybe even leave a comment or two.  I would love to know what you think!  Today was a lovely day!  We even made it outside to hang up our bird feeders from yesterday.  The kids really love being out there.  We are going to make a bigger effort to enjoy the Winter.  Especially with the weather being so nice!  Today we finished up a What does Teddy Wear during the Winter? booklet made with painted paper plates, lots of colouring and cutting.  Pretty cute.  I won't post any pictures of this because quite honestly I don't remember where I got the idea from!  We are looking forward to tomorrow and spending some time in our "Bear Cave!"  Which is really just our castle covered with a big quilt!  The kids will like it!  Have a great evening everyone!

This past Christmas I bought a pancake pan that had Christmas ornaments right in the metal of the pan so when you put your pancake batter on top it makes patterned pancakes!!  Well honestly, I thought that it was the cutest thing I had ever seen.  The pancakes were so cute and I knew the kids would love them.  I was telling one of my dayhome moms about this fabulous pan and during her travels through the stores she found another one with animal patterns on it and gave it to me!  I LOVE IT!  We made pancakes for lunch today and the kids asked if we could have "fancy pancakes" everyday!  Look how amazing the pancakes look!  You just want to eat them!!  We also played a wonderful Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see? memory game today that I made from the same web sight  as the Colouring Animals booklet http://www.1plus1plus1equals1.com/BrowBearBrownBear.html The children really enjoyed it.  We also made some very simple but fun bird feeders today.  I got that idea from Preschool Playbook http://www.preschoolplaybook.com/search/label/Winter It was too windy and snowy to hang them up today so we will do that tomorrow.  Looking forward to another busy day:)  Sorry about the pictures not being in order or straight.  I have a lot to learn about posting/blogging! Have a great evening!

What a fun day!  We did our fun Colouring Animals booklet, found at http://www.1plus1plus1equals1.com/BrowBearBrownBear.html today which I knew the children would enjoy.  It doesn't seem to matter how well the children know their colours, they are always so pleased with themselves when they get it right!  We also read our Big Book of Brown Bear, Brown Bear What do you see? during circle time.  I am always so amazed how they remember what each colour of animal is coming up!  Great job kiddos!  For our afternoon activity we played the game, Mr. Ribbit's Pond by Playskool.  An oldie but a goodie!   Tomorrow we will carry on with our Hibernation week all leading up to our Hibernation Day on Thursday.  Don't forget to send the kids in their PJ's and with their favourite Teddy Bear to hibernate with. Slippers and pillows are always fun too!  Have a great day:)

1st Blog Post

Well, I have to say how excited I am to be part of the blogging world.  Now I hope I have enough interesting information to pass on to parents and others who have children of preschool age.  I just love this time of year!  So many themes to pick from and so little time.  The dayhome started back from Christmas break last week and we quickly got into the Winter Theme with snowmen and all about snow.  This week we will be talking about Hibernation and Bears, ending the week with a special Hibernation day!  We will be wearing our PJ's to the dayhome and bringing our most favourite bear so we can all hibernate together.  I will post some pictures to show you all how it went.  We will be reading Brown Bear, Brown Bear What do you see? (my favourite Eric Carle book!)  to start off the week.  While searching other absolutely fabulous preschool blogs, I came across so many activities to do with this book.  We will do a Colouring Animals mini booklet found at http://www.1plus1plus1equals1.com/BrowBearBrownBear.html first thing tomorrow.  I'm sure I will take some pictures of the children enjoying this quick little activity.  I hope you all have a wonderful week:)
